Day 1

Welcome to Sri Lankal Upon arrival at Colombo’s Bandaranaike International Airport you will be met by your guide for a private transfer to your hotel in colombo (35km / approx. 45 minutes).vernight Colombo

Day 2

Today you will drive towards Kandy (1 12 Km / approx. 3 hrs).

Sri Lanka’s second largest city, Kandy was the capital of the last Sinhalese Kingdom and enjoys a scenic setting around a lake surrounded by green hills. Home to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, said to house Buddha’s tooth, each August the city also hosts the spectacular Perahera festival featuring dancers, fire breathers and lavishly decorated elephants. Day 3

After breakfast enjoy a tour of Kandy,
Later head to the beautiful Peradeniya Botanic Gardens (10km / approx. 45 mins) to enjoy a leisurely stroll among the orchids and royal palms. Surrounded on three sides by the Mahaweli river, these botanical gardens were founded in 1824 and are still home to one of world’s largest collections of plants and trees. Giant ficus trees, palms,an orchid house and a vast array of trees such as ebony, teak, satinwood, mahogany and tamarind can be seen here.

Late afternoon you will:head to a Jocal hall to watch a show of traditional Sri Lankan music, dance and drumming. Afterwards you’ll visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, known locally as Sri Dalada Maligawa, the most sacred temple in the whole of Sri Lanka. This important shrine boasts intricate carvings and beautiful Sri Lankan art. During the evening ‘puja’ throngs of pilgrims visit the temple to line up to glimpse the golden casket said to hold the sacred relic and to make offerings of Howers. Overnight Kandy

Day 4

Today you will travel through the hill country to Ella.

You will be transferd to nanu oya to board yor train. We will book the train journey for you .however the departure time and journey duration can be subject to delays. It’s a very picturesque journey passing many tea plantations and several waterfalls. On arrival at Nanu Oya railway station you will be picked up by your driver/ guide and proceed to your hotel(8km / approx. 25 mins)
If the train journey cannot be booked you will travel by road to Nuwara Eliya instead, climbing’1,400m along winding roads past tea plantations and crystalline reservoirs (141 Km / approx.4.5 hrs). Overnight Ella

Day 5

After an early breakfast enjoy a short hike up nearby Little Adam’s Peak for breathtaking views across the valley towards Ella Rock.
Later take a drive around Ella. Stop at Demodara station for a short walk along the track to see the spiral railway of the ‘Demodara Loop’, one of Sri Lanka’s engineering marvels. Continue to another viewpoint to see the famous and picturesque Nine Arch Bridge accessed by a short walk along the railway and then drive to Rawana Ella waterfall for a photo stop. This pretty waterfall has links to the famous Indian epic, the Ramayana. According to legend, it is said that Rawana (who was the king of Sri Lanka at the time) had kidnapped princess Sita, and had hidden her in the caves behind this waterfall.

Return to your hotel where the rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 6

Afterwards you will drive on to Uda Walawe National Park for an afternoon jeep safari (128 Km/ Approx. 4 hrs).

Uda Walawe National Park is renowned as one of the best places in Sri Lanka to see elephants. Centred on a large reservoir the light vegetation makes game watching easy and most visitors will be graced with numerous sightings of herds of these gentle giants as they roam the grassland and scrub landscapes. The park also hosts many other species such as water buffalo, sambar deer, monkeys and the occasional leopard. It is also a wonderful place to enjoy birding.Overnight Udawalawa

Day 7

Start the morning at the Elephant Transit Home, a small facility on the border of the national park which cares for orphan elephants until they are ready to be released into the wild. You’ll watch from behind a barrier as the elephants follow the keeper into the compound and eagerly await Their turn to receive their milk. Afterwards continue to your ecolodge in the Sinharaja Forest Reserve, arriving in time for lunch(80km / approx. 3 hrs).

Sinharaja Forest Reserve contains Sri Lanka’s last remaining tract of primary tropical rainforest and is recognised by UNESCO for its biological importance. More than 60% of the trees are endemic and it is home to over 50% of Sri Lanka’s endemic species of mammals and butterflies, as well as many kinds of birds, reptiles and amphibians. A number of rare and threatened species occur within the reserve including the purple-faced leaf monkey, green-billed Coucal and the Sri Lankan Blue Magpie.

In the afternoon you will set off on a guided 2-2.5 hour trek into the rainforest (may be shared with other guests) along a narrow and uneven trail. Your guide will point out the variety of flora and fauna that inhabit this lush area. Return to your lodge to freshen up before dinner. Overnight Rainforest Eco Lodge (Standard Chalet)

Day 8

This morning you will continue your journey south to Galle (105km / approx. 3.5 hrs).

Set on a promontory on the southwest tip of Sri Lanka, Galle is an immensely charming town and remains the best preserved example of a European built fortified city in Asia. The narrow streets are a delight to explore with decaying colonial buildings and numerous boutiques and cafés surrounded by grand fort walls.

Enjoy a evening walking tour of Galle Fort. Wander along the ramparts, pass the lighthouse and the old Portuguese harbour and stop to see some of the many colonial era buildings, including the Dutch Reformed Church, the Anglican All Saints Church and the former house of the Dutch governor, built in 1684 and now the luxurious Amangalla hotel. Day 9

This day you will drive back to the airport for your flight (154km / approx. 2hrs) or Bech Stay
